On May 5, 2024, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ) and the Attorney General’s Chambers, Zanzibar
Professor Dr. Harpreet Kaur, Vice-Chancellor of NLUJ, said that this MoU will not only promote academic endeavours between the two nations but it will also foster friendship and cultural exchange. This MoU will focus on knowledge transfer and academic research. Through this MoU capacity building training programmes will be conducted which will offer a blend of practical knowledge transfer and hands on training using technology.
The MoU will also provide faculty, attorneys and legal officers, students, and researchers from the two institutions with the opportunity to conduct research on various law-related topics such as arbitration, contract, commercial, litigation, alternative dispute resolutions, legal drafting and other streams such as management, leadership, planning, and accounting.
Mr. Shaaban R. Abdalla, Deputy Attorney General from the Attorney General’s Chambers, is of the view that collective development is possible with this MoU. He strongly believes that the with the advancements and focus of NLUJ in bringing about revolutionary development in the field of teaching and learning, his fellow colleagues can upgrade their knowledge with the rich experience of legal experts and faculty at NLUJ. There is plethora of opportunities to explore in terms of research and training, which both the institutions will explore together in the future.
Dr. Neeti Mathur, Executive Chairperson, External Initiatives Committee, NLUJbriefly talked about the significant MoUs signed by NLUJ recently. The program was attended by faculty members of NLUJ and delegates from the office of Attorney General of Zanzibar.
