In a significant tribute to the esteemed Honourable Supreme Court of India, the Centre for Research in Governance, Institutions, and Public Policy at National Law University, Jodhpur, organized a one-day National Conference commemorating 75 years of the Supreme Court. Held on April 21, 2024, at the University Auditorium, the event saw a gathering of legal luminaries, scholars, and alumni, fostering intellectual exchange and offering profound insights on this momentous occasion.
The conference was graced by Hon’ble Mrs Justice B V Nagarathna, Judge, Supreme Court of India as the Chief Guest and Hon’ble Mr Justice Madan B Lokur, Former Judge, Supreme Court of India as the Guest of Honour. The other esteemed speakers who graced the occasion were Dr Arghya Sengupta, Mr Anurag Bhaskar, Mr Ravi Parmar and Mr Rajesh Ranjan all of whom provided invaluable perspectives on critical topics including Supreme Court and judicial review, the engagement of courts with comparative law, constitution beyond courts, constitutional morality and the pivotal role of the judiciary in safeguarding the right to education to name a few.
Under the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Mr Justice M. M. Shrivastava, Chief Justice of Rajasthan High Court and Chancellor of National Law University, Jodhpur, and Prof. Harpreet Kaur, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, the event unfolded into a day of robust discussions and introspection. The program was compered by Faculty Advisors to the Centre, Sayantani Bagchi and Dr. Anjali Thanvi, along with senior student members Nandini Arya and Nalin Agnihotri. The commemoration of the 75th anniversary of the Honourable Supreme Court of India at National Law University, Jodhpur, served as a testament to the enduring legacy of India’s highest court and its unwavering dedication to the cause of justice.
