23rd April, 2024. The National Law University Jodhpur (NLUJ) and Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC), Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India Special Training Programme on Contract Management and Negotiation Skills for attorneys from the Office of the Attorney General of Tanzania commenced in the NLU Jodhpur Auditorium. This programme was presided over by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Harpreet Kaur. Hon’ble Justice Hemant Gupta, Former Judge, Supreme Court of
India graced the occasion as the Chief Guest of the programme and Deputy Attorney General from Tanzania, Mr. Shaaban Ramadhan Abdalla graced the dais as Special Guest from Tanzania. So far, NLUJ has organised 21 NLUJ ITEC programmes for participants from ITEC partnering countries comprising of Judges, Judicial Officers and Senior Attorney. This special programme focusses on Contract Management and Negotiation Skills, covers law, policy and procedure and multi-dimensional approach to contract management. It includes sessions by legal luminaries and renowned experts and interactive sessions for critical understanding of participants. The pedagogy
of lectures is based on case studies and discussion. Study visits to Rajasthan High Court, Jodhpur, Surpura Village, Osian, Mehrangarh Fort and other local visits to experience the culture and heritage of Royal Rajasthan are significant features of this programme. The participants of this programme are 40 attorneys of mid-career level and senior level from OAG Tanzania.
The presidential address was delivered by Prof. Harpreet Kaur who explained to the participants that the programme will cover important aspects of contract management. She said that such programmes foster friendship between both nations and expands the horizon of learning and knowledge sharing. She encouraged the participants to learn more and at the same time explore the rich tradition and heritage of Jodhpur. The key note address was delivered by Hon’ble Justice Hemant Gupta, who emphasised on the significance of using technology in contract management.
Justice Gupta was accompanied by Mr. Karan Kanwal, Deputy Registrar, India International Arbitration Centre, Delhi. The first session of the programme was delivered by Prof. Kaur. She explained the fundamentals of Contract Management and quoted relevant domestic and international cases in her content rich session. This session was interactive and was received well by the participants. In the coming days advanced session on contract management and negotiation skills will be conducted as a part of this programme.
