NLU Jodhpur signs an MoU with NIA Pune

Jodhpur, 4 June 2026: National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Insurance Academy (NIA), Pune, marking a significant milestone in strengthening academic collaboration, research, and professional development in the fields of insurance, risk management, and allied disciplines.

The MoU was signed by Prof. (Dr.) Harpreet Kaur, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, National Law University, Jodhpur, and Shri B. C. Patnaik, Director, National Insurance Academy, Pune, in the presence of distinguished faculty members and representatives from both institutions.

The partnership brings together two leading institutions committed to advancing excellence in education and research. Established in 1999, NLU Jodhpur is one of India's premier law universities, recognised for its academic rigour, interdisciplinary scholarship, and leadership in legal education. NIA Pune, established in 1980, is the apex institution for insurance education, training, research, and consultancy in India, supported by the Ministry of Finance, Government of India, and major public-sector insurance organisations.

A key pillar of this collaboration is the strengthening of NLU Jodhpur’s MBA in Insurance & Risk Management programme. The specialised postgraduate programme is designed to integrate legal scholarship with insurance industry practice, equipping students with expertise in insurance principles, risk analytics, financial regulation, actuarial concepts, business analytics, disaster management, and corporate governance. Through this partnership, students will gain enhanced exposure to industry perspectives, regulatory developments, and emerging trends shaping the insurance sector.

The MoU outlines several areas of cooperation, including:

  • Student exchange opportunities.
  • Faculty and staff exchange programmes.
  • Visiting academic appointments and research fellowships.
  • Collaborative research projects and joint publications.
  • Joint conferences, seminars, workshops, and other academic events.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. (Dr.) Harpreet Kaur highlighted the importance of academic-industry collaborations in preparing future professionals for an increasingly dynamic and technology-driven insurance landscape. Shri B. C. Patnaik reiterated NIA Pune’s commitment to fostering excellence in insurance education and strengthening institutional partnerships that contribute to the growth of the sector.
