World Bank Publishes Labour Codes Report with Research Support from LAAC, NLUJ

The Legal Aid and Awareness Committee (LAAC) at National Law University, Jodhpur, under the esteemed guidance of Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Harpreet Kaur, is delighted to announce that the World Bank report titled “India’s New Labour Codes: A Study of the State Rules for Female and Migrant Workers”, to which LAAC contributed through extensive research assistance, has now been officially published by the World Bank (Washington D.C.).
This collaboration formed part of LAAC’s ongoing partnership with the Migration & Asylum Project (MAP), India’s only dedicated legal centre for asylum and migration issues. As part of MAP’s Migrant Worker Project, twelve LAAC student researchers worked over a three-month period to support the development of this landmark study.
The report has been authored by Roshni Shanker (Executive Director, MAP), Astha Sharma (Project Coordinator, MAP), and Kuldeep Lakwal (Project Officer, MAP). They were supported by students of LAAC, including Aashish Gupta, Devendra Pratap Singh, Dhruv Singhal, Jayam Jha, Lavanya Agarwal, Manas Upadhyay, Mishi Bohra, Nandini Arya, Samiksha Lohia, Sinchan Chatterjee, Tisha Gupta, and Vipashyana Hilsayan. The work was carried out under the guidance of Dr. Anjali Thanvi (Chairperson, LAAC).
The report offers a comprehensive analysis of India’s four new Labour Codes, their implications for worker rights, and the manner in which states and Union Territories are implementing the new legal framework. The full report is available here
