Call for Applications | Research Associates-(2) and Research Assistants (3)- Project Ability Empowerment | Contractual Basis
The National Law University, Jodhpur invites applications from eligible candidates for the positions of Research Associate and Research Assistant on a contractual basis. The engagement of the Research Associates and Research Assistants shall be full-time for a period of six months.
About the Project:
Project Ability Empowerment is a nationwide initiative mandated by the Supreme Court of India to monitor and assess the implementation of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (RPwD) Act, 2016, across all care institutions for persons with cognitive disabilities. Led by eight National Law Universities, the project undertakes comprehensive research to evaluate legal, constitutional, and infrastructural adherence concerning autonomy, inclusion, and dignity for persons with disabilities. The National Law University Jodhpur’s mandate covers the States of Rajasthan and Gujarat, and UT of Daman and Diu and Dadar and Nagar Haveli.
The research will be a comprehensive monitoring and data collation exercise that goes beyond just the physical and infrastructural conditions of the institutions. It aims to assess the extent to which these institutions adhere to the broader legal and constitutional commitments of autonomy, inclusion, and dignity for persons with disabilities.

Responsibilities:
Research Associate:
• Lead qualitative and quantitative primary research in care institutions (state-run and private)
• Compliance with various laws and international conventions.
• Support the Core Team in drafting monitoring parameters and compiling national reports
• Coordinate with institutional stakeholders and legal experts
Research Assistant:
• Assist with data collection, field visits, and documentation
• Prepare and manage survey/interview tools
• Compile research findings and support statistical analysis
• Support the Research Associate in drafting interim reports
2. Nature of Engagement
• On contractual basis; co-terminus with the project.
• No claim for regular appointment in the University shall arise from this engagement.
3. Responsibilities
• Assist in designing, executing, and documenting research studies
• Conduct field research, data collection, and analysis as required.
• Prepare research reports, policy briefs, and academic publications.
• Provide administrative and logistical support for Centre activities and outreach programmes.
4. Application Procedure
• Interested candidates must submit the application with the self-attested copies of all relevant documents (educational qualifications, age proof, experience certificates, and ID proof). The applications should contain a CV of the candidates along with an SOP (not exceeding 500 words)
• The applications must reach recruitment@nlujohpur.ac.in by 5 p.m. within 10 days of the advertisement of the call for applications.
• Last date for receiving applications: 14-10-2025, up to 5:00 PM.
• Incomplete applications or those received after the due date will be summarily rejected.
5. General Instructions & Selection Process
a) Applicants must ensure their eligibility before applying.
b) No TA/DA will be paid for attending the written test/interview.
c) The University reserves the right to modify/cancel the recruitment process at any stage without assigning any reason.
d) Corrigendum/addendum, if any, will be published only on the University website (www.nlujodhpur.ac.in).
e) The prescribed qualifications and experience are minimum and the mere fact that a candidate possesses the same will not entitle him/her for being called for interview or final selection.
f) The University reserves the right to restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview to a reasonable number on the basis of qualifications and experience higher than the minimum prescribed; or by any other condition that it may deem fit, including conduct of test for shortlisting of candidates.
g) Call letters for test/interview will be sent only to the short-listed candidates through emails and no correspondence will be made with applicants who are not short-listed.
h) The number of vacancies indicated in the Recruitment Notification are tentative. The University reserves the right to increase /decrease the number of posts, at the time of selection and make appointments accordingly, if more vacancies arise in between the advertisement and Selection Committee meetings. The University reserves the right not to fill any post/s if no suitable candidates are available.
i) Canvassing in any form on behalf of any candidate will disqualify such a candidate.
j) The Selection Committee may decide its own method of evaluating the performance of the candidates in interview. The University may utilize written/skill test or seminar/colloquium or presentation as a method of selection.
k) The University may offer lower post to the candidate who may have applied for a higher post in case suitable candidates are not available for the advertised post.
l) Preference will be given to candidates having experience of working at NLUs.
m) It would be open to the University to consider the name of the suitable persons who may not have applied, but recommended by the experts in the respective fields.
n) The University reserves the right to relax any of the qualifications prescribed, if required, depending on the needs of the University.
o) The in-service candidates should apply through proper channel.
p) Qualifications, experience, etc. will be reckoned as on the last date for receipt of filled-in applications.
q) No interim queries regarding interview/selection will be entertained.
r) Errors and omissions are subject to correction.
