National Law University, Jodhpur Celebrates its 25th Foundation Day

National Law University, Jodhpur (NLUJ) celebrated its 25th Foundation Day "25 बरसां रो गौरव, सदियां रो संकल्प" with great fervour and dignity at its campus on Sunday. The occasion was graced by eminent dignitaries from the judiciary, legal academia, and the university fraternity.

The celebrations commenced with the arrival of the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Sandeep Mehta, Visitor, NLUJ & Judge, Supreme Court of India, Guest of Honour, Hon’ble Mr. Justice Vijay Bishnoi, Judge, Supreme Court of India along with Hon’ble Mr. Justice K.R. Shriram, Chancellor, NLUJ & Chief Justice, Rajasthan High Court.

The day began with a tree plantation ceremony, followed by the National Anthem and the formal inauguration of the Foundation Day celebrations. Prof. Harpreet Kaur, Vice Chancellor, NLUJ, delivered the Welcome Address, reflecting on the University’s legacy of excellence and its vision for the future. She emphasized that NLUJ has consistently nurtured leaders who combine legal acumen with social responsibility. She further highlighted the University’s commitment to advancing research, innovation, and interdisciplinary learning to meet the evolving challenges of the legal profession.

A special digital presentation titled “In Pursuit of Excellence in Legal Education; the Journey of National Law University Jodhpur” showcased the milestones of NLUJ’s illustrious 25-year journey. The Chancellor, Hon’ble Justice K.R. Shriram, in his address, highlighted the University’s growing national and international reputation. He exhorted the graduating students to pledge themselves to the noble cause of educating at least one individual as a gesture of giving back to society. The Guest of Honour, Hon’ble Justice Vijay Bishnoi, delivered the Keynote Address, emphasizing the pivotal role of legal education in shaping an equitable society. The Foundation Day Address by the Chief Guest, Hon’ble Justice Sandeep Mehta, underlined the importance of nurturing ethical legal professionals committed to justice and nation-building.

On this occasion, the Report on the Vice Chancellors’ Conclave 2025 and the “NLUJ Declaration on Envisioning a Transformative Equitable and Globally Responsive Architecture for Legal Education in India” was released. The dignitaries were felicitated for their guidance and contribution to the University’s progress.

The programme concluded with a Vote of Thanks by Dr. Sunita Pankaj, Registrar, NLUJ, followed by the National Anthem and a group photograph. The event culminated with a lunch at the NLUJ Convention Centre, marking a memorable milestone in the University’s journey of academic excellence.
