The Centre of Excellence for Research and Applications in Law (CERA) at National Law University, Jodhpur, is a premier institute dedicated to the intersection of law, technology, and society. In today’s rapidly evolving landscape, establishing CERA serves as a strategic response to the growing need to harness new ideas and technologies in compliance with the legal and regulatory framework. The Centre of Excellence for Legal Research and Applications as pivotal institution designed to promote advanced research and training in interdisciplinary areas of law, business, technology and sustainable development.
The Centre aims to address contemporary challenges, to empower innovation by promoting legal and regulatory framework for emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence and blockchain, communication governance, promoting IP awareness among local artisans, and driving policy research on interface between law and technology. The Centre bolster entrepreneurship by supporting MSMEs and women- led enterprises through training programs and assistance in securing Geographical Indication (GI) tags for unique products. CERA aims to serve as a training hub for youth and state employees in legal research, innovation, sustainability and laws.

The vision of the CERA is to be a globally recognised legal research hub advancing innovation, technology and sustainability through interdisciplinary research and community empowerment. NLUJ/ CERA’s mission focuses on creating a dynamic legal ecosystem to bridge gaps between these areas, driving legal-tech growth while ensuring environmental integrity.
