CENTER FOR CONSUMER LAW RESEARCH AND PRACTICE

About: Consumer Law is a fast-developing field with various technical intricacies. With a host of new changes in 2019, the law has been innovated to meet contemporary challenges in this field. Focus on mediation towards consumer grievance redressals looks to focus on the goal of facilitating speedy compensation. The establishment of the Central Consumer Protection Authority displays the commitment of the State towards eliminating threats to consumer safety. Renewed emphasis on the liability of e-commerce websites is another important milestone achieved. At the core of the field is the consumer who looks towards an efficient system that works to reduce his troubles when faced with defective goods and deficiency in services. 
 
Aim: The Centre will promote research into contemporary consumer issues and provide a practical framework for training and redressal mechanisms for consumer grievances.
 
Centre Objectives: 
 
1. To Engage with the Central and State Government in Conduct of Consumer Projects;
2. To Conduct Policy Research into Consumer Law and Provide Advisory Reports;
3. To Initiate Measures Towards Consumer Law Awareness;
4. To Set Up Mechanisms for Mediation of Consumer Grievance;
5. To Establish National and International Network for Study on Consumer Law.
