Final Rounds and Valedictory Ceremony of the First NLUJ-NHRC Moot Court Competition

On the 8th of October 2023, the final rounds of the   First NLUJ-NHRC Moot Court Competition took place in the auditorium. The   two finalist teams, Rajiv Gandhi National Law University Punjab and   Symbiosis Law School, Noida, were evaluated by a panel of esteemed   judges from the Rajasthan High Court, namely Hon’ble Justice Dr. P.S   Bhati, Hon’ble Justice Vinit Kumar Mathur and Hon’ble Justice Dr. Nupur   Bhati. 

Symbiosis Law   School Noida represented the Petitioner, while Rajiv Gandhi National   University of Law represented the Respondent. The judges posed numerous   questions to the participating teams, who responded adeptly. Following   the rebuttals and surrebuttals, the final rounds concluded, and a recess   was observed for lunch.   

Subsequently, the   valedictory ceremony commenced with a welcome address delivered by Mr.   Rashmin Kansal, Co-Convenor of the Moot Court Committee. This was   followed by an Executive Address by the Guest of Honour, Shri Devendra   Kumar Nim, Joint Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission, and a   Vote of Thanks by the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Harpreet   Kaur. 

The prize distribution ceremony then ensued, and the following participants were felicitated: 

• Winning Team: Symbiosis Law School Noida 
• Runners-Up Team: Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law Punjab 
• Best Memorial: National Academy of Legal Studies and Research 
• Best Student Advocate: Kshitiz Saruparia (NALSAR) 
• Best Student Advocate of the Finals: Rahul Jain (SLS Noida) 

This   event not only demonstrated the legal acumen of the participating   institutions but also underscored the importance of legal advocacy and   human rights in contemporary society.
