National Law University Jodhpur recently organised a specialized Training Workshop for Law Officers of Reserve Bank of India from 3rd – 5th November 2023 aimed at enhancing the legal expertise of officers and augment their understanding of the complex legal framework governing the banking industry.The training event featured interactive sessions and in-depth discussions on critical areas in the domain of banking and financial laws. It served as a pivotal platform for refining legal expertise in the ever-evolving banking sector, bridging academia and industry proficiency.
A notable highlight of the event was the esteemed presence of Mr. M.Rajeshwar Rao, Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India, who graced the occasion with his insights and expertise. During Mr. Rao's visit, Prof. Harpreet Kaur, Vice-Chancellor of National Law University Jodhpur, presented a comprehensive report on “Contemporary Legal Issues in the Banking and Finance Industry in India”. The report highlighted crucial areas such as mediation of banking disputes, data privacy concerns, challenges of smart contracts, and the impact of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. “This report exemplifies our commitment to addressing complex legal challenges faced by the banking and financial industry. It aims to act as a catalyst for policy-making, providing a roadmap towards a more effective and responsive regulatory framework in India”, Prof. Kaur remarked.
The Report, prepared by the Research Team of the Centre for Studies in Banking and Finance under the supervision of Dr. Anand Kumar Singh, Assistant Professor of Law at National Law University Jodhpur, signifies a culmination of extensive research and expertise in the field.
